The Dhaara Story
Your saree fairy godmother
My name is Brin. Growing up, I was a tomboy. Saris were not my thing.
But I'd watch my mom get ready for work in India, draping silk and chiffon like it was butter, a light touch of makeup, out the door. I was gobsmacked every
time. She made it look effortless. I was sure I never could.
I moved to the US at 16, and somewhere along the way I told myself I wasn't a sari person. The truth is I just couldn't drape one, and that made me feel like it wasn't mine to wear.
Then around 2019, something shifted. The pull came back. And during the pandemic, stuck at home, I finally let myself have them: the Banarasis, the Kanjeevarams, the ones I'd always quietly wanted. That's when the bug really bit.
What I didn't expect was the community. Women here, across the US, who shared this love, and so many more who adored saris but, just like me, didn't think they were theirs to wear.
The Dhaara Edit grew out of that joy: relishing these textiles together, and sharing them with women who never thought they could.
A curated collection of sarees from across India's textile traditions. Each one is one of one: when it's gone, it's gone.
They are yours. They always were. Let me help you find your perfect drape. 💕
